I'm looking forward to seeing what this new version of SkyMaxx looks like. Which are pretty good! I think the need for an add-on weather plugin is a bit less now than it used to be in XP10, but if you look at the feature list for both SkyMaxx Pro and XEnviro, they both bring some features that you don't get in the base sim. So I have SkyMaxx Pro v4 too, but I haven't re-installed it yet because I've been testing the new default clouds in XP11. For the locations and plane types I usually fly, it's a deal-breaker to only have real injected weather.
#SKYMAXX PRO GIZZMO MANUAL#
I bought XEnviro to try out, but even with 3D clouds I'll probably keep it shelved, because they confirmed it will never have full manual control of the weather. If they can move to 3D (or more likely a mix of close 3D and distant 2D) without too much reduction in frame rate, I'll be impressed. Well, it's a new product, and I think it's good that they're responding to one of the criticisms of the first release - that clouds were too often very obvious 2D billboards.
#SKYMAXX PRO GIZZMO UPDATE#
I'm absolutely loving 圎nviro, but I feel like the developer doesn't have his priorities organized properly- the 1.07 update is taking so long because he's totally changing the cloud rendering system from 2D to 3D clouds, which is great but it's more something you'd expect to see in 1.5 or 2.0- there are many more small bugs/missing features that need to be fixed first. You’ll want to fly with a healthy in game volume as the sound is amazing.I'll reserve judgement until they post more screenshots. Regarding the sound, you’ll hear all sorts of angry whines and growls and the soul shaking reverberation of the engines as they spin up to max power. But, the industry trends are clear more and more of our customers want to use. Our Triton 3D Ocean SDK has provided simulation and training-grade oceans to C++ OpenGL and DirectX developers for years. It takes weather data from the already existing X-Plane weather menu that you are used to, so there’s nothing new to learn. Triton’s training-quality oceans are available again for the Unity game engine. You’ll be keeping an eye on them every now and then and liking what you see. SkyMaxx Pro is a plug-in that disables X-Plane’s cloud and weather rendering engine, then replaces it with the SkyMaxx Pro version of weather. Outside the aircraft I noticed that the prop animations are the best I’ve seen yet in X-Plane. If you find this to be unwieldy, it’s an X-Plane thing. Typical to X-Plane you can click or click and drag to change buttons, switches and knobs. The animations are complete with almost anything you’d want to manipulate being available for manipulation, including the sliding sun visor. The textures show age and grime really well. If I had to split hairs, I’d say that altitude cancel alert button seems a little fuzzy, but really it’s as good as you’d need at any zoom level or resolution. The modelling is fantastic, I couldn’t find anything to complain about both in the model or the textures. That coupled with the integrated checklists is as good as any training system I’ve seen. This tells you everything you need to know to plan and execute a flight from KBOS (Boston) to KJFK (New York).
#SKYMAXX PRO GIZZMO MANUALS#
To help get you off the ground, or keep you on the ground and reading more like, there’s a wide selection of manuals bundled with the 340a, these include systems manuals and reference charts, but the one that jumps out is the tutorial flight.
